For over 60 years, the Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) Footscray Unit has provided emergency rescue support to the Cities of Maribyrnong and Melbourne. This support is both diverse and dynamic. Last calendar year, members responded to over 400 Requests for Assistance (RFAs) that arose from storms, floods (notably boat rescues for the Maribyrnong River Flood), and building damage as well as assisting other agencies (Victoria Police, Fire & Ambulance) in searching for missing people, protecting incident scenes and general rescue duties.
Footscray members are all unpaid volunteers giving up our time to help serve the community 24 hours, 7 days a week.
VICSES does not charge a call-out fee for the services provided. While the unit does receive basic funding and support from the Victorian Government, we rely on donations to help us:
We rely on our community's generosity to provide the service they need in times of crisis or emergency. Please help us to help you!
