The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) - Leongatha Unit has been serving the South Gippsland community since 1977. 

We are the primary emergency rescue agency for storm, flood, earthquake and tsunami. We lead the response capability for major weather events including severe wind and rain storms causing building and other infrastructure damage, road hazards, hail damage, riverine and flash floods and provide other support services that may be required during a declared emergency. The Leongatha Unit is also the primary Road Crash Rescue agency in this part of the region to respond with our emergency service partners to help save the lives of seriously trapped casualties involved in major vehicle collisions. 

We also assist Victoria Police with seraching for missing persons, Country Fire Authority (CFA) with logistical and operational support and Ambulance Victoria with casualty handling and logistical support.

VICSES - Leongatha Unit is made up of unsung everyday heroes living in Leongatha and other immediate neighbouring areas. Our members are from all walks of life and give endlessly of their time to help protect and serve the community - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Did we mention they are all volunteers?

As an emergency service under the Emergency Management Act, VICSES do not charge for our services (as it should be), however we are not fully funded unlike some of our other emergency service partners. We rely on our community's genosity to continue providing the service they need in times of crisis or emergency.
