About this cause

Every girl deserves the chance to stay in school, period.

In Uganda, lack of access to menstrual products is one of the leading causes of girls dropping out of school. Without reliable solutions, many are forced to miss class each month, falling behind and losing hope for their future. Stitching Sisterhood - Uganda is a powerful community-driven response to this challenge.

On October 3rd and 4th, we’re bringing together volunteers of all skill levels to sew 2,000 reusable menstrual pads for girls, teachers, and staff at the I Am Someone Children’s Village in Kasese, Uganda. This isn’t just about pads, it’s about dignity, education, and opportunity.

Either join the event at Second Stitch in Coburg (spots are limited) or host your own sewing event with friends!

Reusable pads are a sustainable, eco-friendly solution that keeps girls in school while reducing waste and dependence on single-use products. Every stitch supports long-term change, both for girls in Uganda and for local women involved in our microbusiness sewing project in Kasese.

No sewing experience? No problem. We’ve got a job for everyone.

Can’t make it? Donate fabric or funds to help us build the sewing school in Uganda and cover a yearly salary for Ugandan seamstresses.

Together, we can stitch dignity, opportunity, and education into every pad.
