Shopfront friends, it is a difficult time for Youth Arts in Australia. As you will already know, like many industries, the Arts has been badly impacted by Covid-19. The additional loss of our four-year Australia Council funding, alongside other significant youth arts companies, has been devastating. We’re working hard to assess what this means for Shopfront Arts Co-op moving forward, but what we can promise is that we are committed to remaining the home of youth arts. We have reimagined ways to engage with Young People during these challenging times with free workshops, at-home art activities, and virtual performances to help them navigate the emotional toll of life in lockdown, and to encourage them to continue creating. But we need your help.
With support from our friends and community we know we will get through to the other side to continue serving Young People, just as we have done for the past 44 years. We ask that you support us in this by donating to our End of Financial Year Appeal. There are a lot of people struggling right now, but if you are in a position to help financially, it could make the all the difference to Shopfront’s future.
Around the world, we have turned to the Arts to support us during isolation. Shopfront has an important place in Australia’s Arts ecosystem, nurturing future art-makers and audience members.
With support from our wonderful community this year we will be opening the doors to our new Youth Arts Precinct and we know that we will be welcoming Young People for many years to come with the generosity of your tax-deductible donation of $2 or more.
Thank you to all our Shopfront community. We are sending you virtual hugs.
