What do we do?
The Sisters of the Good Samaritan Foundation responds to the call of the needy, especially disadvantaged women and children. For over 150 years the Sisters have initiated important projects in communities throughout Australia and the Pacific with little or no government assistance.
Thanks to generous supporters and donors such as yourself, the following Good Samaritan projects continue to flourish. These programs directly support more than 2,000 people every year, bringing refuge, education and hope.
Good Samaritan Inn - a welcoming place to stay for women and children fleeing family violence
Good Samaritan Housing - accommodation for young mums and their children facing homelessness
Timor Leste scholarships - scholarships to help young people gain vocational education and rebuild their communities
Philippines programs - daily feeding program, education and other programs of support for impoverished children and families in the squatter areas of Bacolod
Kiribati programs - assistance for the community in Abaokoro on one of the world's most impoverished island nations
Education grants - assistance for Australian high school students facing particular hardship
Other programs overseen by Sisters of the Good Samaritan operate in support of indigenous communities, children with disabilities and refugees.
Why is it so important?
The Sisters are deeply appreciative of your support as it ensures these much-valued programs are able to continue.
Sisters of the Good Samaritan manage or directly operate the programs, ensuring funds received from supporters are applied to maximum benefit and a compassionate approach is always taken.
Thank you for being part of the Good Sams story and for 'being neighbour' to those in need.
