Social Circus is the common term for using circus as a tool for social change.
Your contribution creates a new opportunity for NICA to reach a marginalised or at-risk community.
Social circus programs aim to build an environment of inclusivity, where individuals and communities can develop a strong sense of self through the sharing of skills and experiences.
Case Study: NICA in Alice Springs with the Red Dust Healthy Living Program
NICA Social and Community Circus Coordinator Andrea Ousley and first year student Tomas Correia headed six hours out of Alice Springs to Kintore in August 2017 to be part of the Red Dust Healthy Living Program. Working within Walungurru (Kintore Primary) and Kintore Campus Yirara College, they offered teacher support in the classroom, conducted circus workshops and also helped to build a garden in both the primary school and high school.
NICA has offered programs to Indigenous organisations and marginalised groups, both nationally and internationally, utilising circus arts as a community cultural development tool.
