About Stars Foundation

Our vision is to break the cycle of intergenerational disadvantage and see Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women able to choose thier path and participate fully and confidently in the Australian community, enjoying social, cultural and economic well-being.

Stars Foundation improves education, health and employment outcomes by providing long-term, intensive, in-school mentoring and engagement programs focused on four key areas of personal development - Education, Training and Employment; Healthy Lifestyles; Community, Culture and Leadership; Wellbeing.

We support around 4,000 First Nations girls and young women in around 75 primary and secondary schools across Australia, and aim to support 4500 by the end of 2026.

Our model is based on the best available evidence and years of experience, and is specifically tailored to address the needs of First Nations girls and young women. Since 2016 we have seen consistently outstanding results across our programs.

In 2025

  • Stars students had an average attendance rate of 77% - compared to our partner school Indigenous attendance average of around 68%.
  • Over 90% of senior Stars students completed Year 12 - compared to national Indigenous Year 12 completion rate of just 68%.
  • 86% of our 2024 Stars graduates transitioned successfully to further study, training  or employment.

The Stars program also builds self confidence and belief, strengthens connections to culture and community, and improves health and wellbeing.

How You Can Help

Your generosity will help us to continue our important work and see more First Nations girls and young women across Australia with access to high-quality education and engagement programs.

When you support Stars Foundation, you can be assured that over 85% of our overall funding is spent directly on the girls we support.

Your contribution will help to Close the Gap on Indigenous disadvantage by empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women to make active choices towards realising their full potential, and improving economic, health and social outcomes, not just for the girls themselves, but also for their families and wider communities.

The future is in our Stars!
