A vibrant classical music community for young people aged seven to 25. A place where musical skills are developed and enduring friendships are formed. Since 1965, the foundational musical home for thousands of young Tasmanians; and part of the fabric of Tasmanian cultural life.

This is TYO! Our vision is for Tasmania to be a vibrant, unique place for classical music, where young people thrive.

• TYO works with more than 200 young Tasmanian musicians and singers each year, connecting them to the joy of making music together.
• We are the home of Tasmania's state youth orchestra and a vibrant ensemble program with two additional orchestras, two chorales, specialist ensembles, scholarships and regional connection programs.
• TYO offers development opportunities for a wide range of participants – from those new to ensemble music, through to accomplished youth musicians who are already experienced performers.
• Every year, TYO brings more than 20 exceptional performances to audiences around the state and online. We're a joyous part of the cultural fabric of Tasmanian life.
• Many years of research tell us that musical involvement provides multiple and lifelong benefits to young people – social connectedness, wellbeing, improved educational outcomes, skills and leadership development, resilience.
• TYO's programs are designed to be of outstanding quality and benefit – increasing musical participation, encouraging strong friendships and a sense of belonging, providing pathways to professional careers and growing lifetime musicians and supporters of the arts.
