We are purpose building a children's village for orphaned and vulnerable children which will be a highly self-sustainable, aesthetically pleasing, energy efficient, eco-friendly home.
1 child every 14 seconds in our world becomes an orphan. Imagine for 1 moment, no one single person in your life to love or care for you. Orphans face a life in the depths of despair, having their childhoods ripped from them, without hope of ever being part of a family unit and being loved and nurtured enough to reach their full potential. Imagine being abandoned or dumped because no one could look after you. It is hard to imagine, but it is happening every day. Once the founder witnessed the horrors above, Umoja Orphanage Kenya was born. With over 1.2 million orphans in Kenya, we are helping give our future children back their childhoods, be educated freely until adulthood, and above all be loved. Umoja intends to focus on the whole child¹s needs incuding emotional, spiritual, and physical.
You can visit our website at http://www.umojahome.com to find out more about helping Umoja. There are many ways you can help us with our self-sustainability, fundraising, or just ways to spread the word about what we are doing and why.
Our current key areas of need are:
Umoja designed to be a children's village, not only to rehome up to 60 children. Within the village there will be built over many stages:
Umoja Orphanage Kenya is situated approximately 10 minutes drive from Ukunda/Diani Beach on the southern coast of Kenya. We have 17 acres of fertile land to begin our project.
