Thorne Harbour Health (formerly known as the Victorian AIDS Council) was founded in 1983 by the community in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
For 40 years, 'change' has been the one constant in the work of our organisation. As the HIV epidemic has changed, our organisation has evolved. We are now responding to a range of issues affecting the health and wellbeing of our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) communities, and continue to support people living with HIV.
We are now Thorne Harbour Health, and we will continue to work for the dignity and wellbeing of our communities - now and into the future.
Thorne Harbour Health works with more than 700 volunteers and 90 employees in the areas of Community Services for People Living with HIV, Health Promotion, Counselling, Events and Administration.
Through a one-off donation or regular monthly donations, together we can make a difference to the quality of life of people living with HIV and work towards reducing the prevalence of HIV in our community, and improve the mental and physical health outcomes for all sexually and gender diverse communities.
By making a tax-deductible donation to Thorne Harbour Health, you will be helping to support the services we provide to people living with HIV and the broader LGBTIQ+ community, including:
* HIV risk reduction education campaigns
* Accessible rapid HIV and STI testing services
* Community support programs and residential services
* Emergency relief, financial and legal assistance
* Therapeutic treatments and groups
* Counselling services
