At the St Vincent de Paul Society Tasmania (the Society) we believe the growing issue of homelessness is a whole of community issue.
That's why, this year, we are inviting every Tasmanian man, woman and child to participate in the 2022 Vinnies Community Sleepout and help raise money for those experiencing homelessness and those at risk of experiencing homelessness.
We are encouraging individuals, families, school groups, businesses, organisations and community groups to either sign-up on their own or sign-up as a team and raise money for this very important cause.
You can either 'sleep-out' by giving up your warm bed for the night and sleeping on the sofa, in your car, in a tent in the backyard, balcony or deck, in a school gymnasium or school hall or your workplace.
All monies raised will stay in Tasmania and will go to to giving a hand-up to those experiencing homlessness and those at risk of experincing homelessness.
In the past year, the Society has provided more than 25,000 instances of emergency relief, with a total value of almost 1.1m, to the Tasmanian community. We have served hot meals, secure accommodation for people in need, and helped families and individuals with financial assistance, including food vouchers and utility bills. Our priority is to keep families together in a home, while finding secure accommodation for those on the streets. In addition to this, we provide blankets, swags, personal hygiene packs, information and referral to other support agencies.
Will you join us in the fight to bring an end to the cycle of homelessness in Tasmania?
