The Wildlife Rescuers are a dedicated group of 100% volunteers that specialise in the rescue and rehabilitation of native Australian wildlife in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.
We are active rescuers, rescuing and caring for various wildlife on a near day to day basis, including eastern grey kangaroos, possums, wombats, bats and various species of birds.
Our role is one of rescuing injured, sick and orphaned wildlife and where possible releasing healthy animals back into the wild. We also engage in public education via presentations, the media and we conduct information and training sessions.
Donated funds help ease the financial pressure that our volunteers incur as part of undertaking this volunteer work. The funds will be used to purchase items that help us, help wildlife e.g transporting cages, formula for orphans, feed and medical supplies for animals in care and veterinary expenses.
Wildlife volunteers do not get paid or receive any government funding. The service relies on the generosity of public donations to operate.
