The Hub Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation based in Castlemaine, Central Victoria. In our own small way we want to help tackle climate change, locally.

YIMBY - Yes in My Backyard is a current project, with three purposes: to build resilient communities; to reduce carbon emissions from organics in landfill; and to grow the availability of good soil, with compost. YIMBY exists because we value community-led solutions to global problems.

Since 2020 YIMBY has been: 

• diverting organics from landfill - where they cause harmfull green house gases
• connecting people in neighbourhoods through weekly collections, building communtiy resilience and capacity
• regenerating local soils and boosting local food growing capacity through the production of high quality compost

YIMBY currently have 22 volunteer community composters who we have trained to be expert at their job, and loving it...we have collectively diverted and composted over 45 tonne of food scraps, made 31,039 kgs of high quality compost and saved over 90tonne of Greenhouse gas emissions (Co2 -e) from being generated.

YIMBY have over 250 households who have signed up to contribute food scraps weekly and we are scaling up as fast as is within out capacity to do so.
