Membership of Friends of Refugee Communities (FoRC) is open to anyone who supports our vision, purpose and values.
Currently FoRC supports the Sunlight Garden, a community garden for former Afghan refugees, as well as operating the Sunlight Kitchen, a small social enterprise cafe providing work experience for former refugees.
In addition it runs a 26Ten literacy project to enhance English communication and learning skills in members of the Afghan community.
There are many ways to become involved, and we welcome new volunteers.
Become a regular volunteer in the Sunlight Garden. Share your love of gardening, whilst learning about growing produce in other countries.
Become involved in the Sunlight Kitchen and Bazaar. Take an active role, mentor participants or provide them with opportunities to practise English in real life situations.
As a financial member of Friends of Refugee Communities Tasmania, you will be invited to community gatherings, food tastings and other events, and will receive monthly updates on our activities.
If you're not interested in becoming a member right now, then please consider making a donation to our garden:
